We sat down with Rich to hear his observations and feedback from the meeting…
How was the vibe? What were industry leaders buzzing about?
“It’s such an exciting time in the staffing industry, and there were definitely several topics that caused the most buzz. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is generating a lot of excitement as leaders uncover how it will impact the staffing industry and temporary employment. Leaders were also optimistic about the growth of the temporary workforce in the U.S. economy. We heard a lot about the increasing demand for IT talent as well as the explosive growth for Energy career professionals (especially oil & gas). Finally, I noticed a lot of dialogue about a topic we are extremely passionate about at Advanced: Experience Excellence.”
What ideas did you come home with that we can apply to improve the client/candidate experience at Advanced?
“It’s about the little things. Instead of the focus companies typically place on profits and financial metrics, the most effective staffing industry leaders focus on the little things our frontline employees can control to deliver that surprise, unexpected “WOW!” factor within the service relationship. It only takes one bad interaction to lose a customer or candidate. Likewise, it only takes one WOW moment to blow past a person’s expectations."
What are the 1-2 hottest trends on the horizon for our industry?
“The first hot trend is full integration of social media within our businesses. I’m proud of Advanced Resources’ presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Yelp. We still want to be more sophisticated and increase how we engage with our clients and candidates through social media to enhance experience excellence. The second hottest trend/topic is the temporary staffing industry’s role in ACA. Staffing firms are required to deal with the complexities of Obamacare due to the unique nature of our workforce. At Advanced Resources, we’re already intensely focused on becoming experts on ACA. Our goal is to develop expertise so we can provide insight and thought leadership to the companies we serve.”
