There was definitely a noticeable aura of transformational change, and the impetus was the Affordable Care Act. Let’s just say it’s probably a good thing that the employer mandate was deferred a year. We are an industry where many are still trying to figure out this law -- what it means to their business, how much it will cost and who will foot the bill (and how), how to handle the complex administration, what to offer to whom, and on and on.
There are so many trends and variables where we can optimistically see “bridge” actually becoming “stopping point” for our temporary associates.
Beyond all of the dialogue about the ACA, there were other clear themes – leveraging and monetizing your broader communities (through “social” strategies), dealing with the fact that recruiting has become so easy that it’s harder than ever, utilizing the litany of slick technology tools, and finding and retaining top talent.
The keynote speakers were – as always – fantastic. Riveting. They were the highlight of the show and those who can put the pearls of wisdom to work in their companies will have great success.
